Hi,

Horse, dogs and I are relocating to Winchester in August, so I need to find her a new home.

Things we need are:

DIY livery - but someone to assist if needed
Good turn out pref 24/7 in summer/autumn
Secure yard
A reliable yard manager and friendly atmosphere
Access to school or schooling area
Good hacking without too many main roads (horse is a youngster)

Not essential but secure parking for a trailer would be handy!

If anyone has any idea of costings as well that would be good.

I also need to find a new farrier, vet, feed supplier and a farmer friend to get straw and hay (if not available from livery yard).

I don't know the area that well, but we're gonna be about 2 miles from the city centre if that helps with location!!

Thanks

Hi Renzo
Have you tried looking on NFED, you will find all things local and horsey on there!
livery opportunities are quite hard to come by but i found my yard through them.
To give you an idea my girls are on 24 hour turn out in their own paddock with some storage for hay & tack, Fab off road hacking but no other facilities & i pay £85 each pcm, thats the cheapest i could find!
we have a local equine vet who im not sure im allowed to name on here but pm if interested, i find them v good!
Good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I do need a school really and a stable as I do show her.

If you could PM me your vets that would be great, what about farriers?

There are a few nice places with great hacking down near Bishop's Waltham. Not sure if any of them have spaces though.

Thanks, I think I know where Bishops Waltham is, do you know any names of them and I can google contact details or something?

Thanks, as you can imagine its quite daunting moving your precious to a new area where you know no one with a horse!

Are you on Facebook? If so, there is a group on there called Hampshire Hooves, and quite a few liveries have advertised on there.

If you'd like to pm me with your email, I'll send you names / numbers / websites for local useful contacts - feed, vets, etc.

Do you know whereabouts near winchester you want to be tho? It can make quite a difference. For example, Bishops Waltham & Sparsholt are both only a few miles from Winchester, but to get from one to the other can take a lot of time, particularly in rush hour. It would help to know a rough direction from Winchester.

I'm based just SE of Winchester, so can help with things in that area more than N/NE of Winchester.

I've pmed you too.

What I didn't add in it is that Hampshire Saddlery in Botley Mills has a folder full of livery yards. Worth a look.

Hi,

I will be living in Teg Down which is about 1 or 2 mile from Sparsholt. I don't know where it sits on a map though!

Thanks for all your help!

I keep my horse in lower upham (just outside Winchester)
Fantastic hacking too...
In my opinion the best vets are Liphook Equine Hospital - worth a call but you may be out of area. PM me and I can give you more details...
