Hi All,
Looking at moving my horses to accommodate work commitments a bit more. Looking for a full livery yard, ideally looking on the A1 corridor between York and Leeds due to work commute but within the above triangle or just north or south would work fine too if on or off the a1.
Have already seen a couple of fab yards that I’ve waitlisted on, but as always, everywhere has its own pros and cons.
Absolute must haves are:
*excellent care of the horses- plentiful ad-lib forage, proper fluffy beds, legs washed if muddy, rug changes. Basic first aid.
*daily field turnout all year round (I don’t mind mud, they just have to be able to go out everyday). Even better if 24/7 turnout available in the summer.
*arena, preferably with lights, as I ride early morning or after work in winter.
*good hacking directly from the yard/vicinity. Even better if there is bridleways or off -road riding.
*somewhere to park a small lorry
*flexible opening hours for the above riding times, e.g 6am -9pm
Nice to haves include a friendly and supportive yard vibe, no drama, and somewhere I can trust the horses will be well cared for when I am working away and can’t get up to check for a couple of days.
Any and all suggestions very welcome. Small yard, big yard, private yard…I really don’t mind. Just want happy healthy horses in an environment they and I can enjoy.
