Hello
firstly apologies if I've posted this in the wrong section!
So, the family and I are moving back to Cardiff and our two ponies are coming with us! I was just wondering whether anyone knew of any good livery yards around the cardiff/newport/caerphilly area.
We're moving to Penylan, so pretty central in Cardiff and would be willing to travel about half an hour for the right place DIY livery is what i'm looking for ideally, preferably with 24hour turnout as the ponies are very 'low maintenance' (if there is such a thing!) who are used to being out all the time and I would ideally prefer a smaller yard but probably not going to be in a position to be fussy. No particular requirements regarding facilities, plenty of grazing being the main factor and if anyone knows of any private land/stables for rent in the same area that would be perfect.
Thank-you in advance :)

There's one in Morganstown...not sure if it has any vacancies...

I believe (could be out of date information) that one in Caerphilly is up for sale so some liveries have moved - I can dig out the name etc though... Are you on Facebook? There are a couple of horse/tack type groups in the Cardiff or South Wales area and that might be worth checking out...

Wales is a bit notorious for not having nice, net accessible sites for livery yards and asking around is likely to be more productive... There's a Robinsons in Morganstown too - they might know of any with spaces...

:)

There is a yard on the Llantrisant Road which seems to offer 24/7 turnout (I have no idea what it's called I'm afraid - but the farm is by the Radyr turnoff.

I don't know of any others that offer 24/7 all year round though sorry.

If you go to JMP Saddlery, Rhiwbina, they may know - as too the Cardiff Tack shop in Pentyrch. Robinsons in Radyr is also a good suggestion to look.

Sunnybank in Caerphilly? Although I think their livery is quite dear because it's a competition centre so depends on your budget. There's David Broomes in Crick, but again probably quite dear. I only know the Newport yards so can't suggest anything closer to Cardiff!

thank you for the replies. unfortunately Sunnybank and David Broome's are a bit out of our budget but have a few leads so is looking promising. and yeah the guy I spoke to when I range Gelynis Farm said a few yards in the area had strangles :/ xx

Hi, I am also looking for yards in the Cardiff area, I have heard that Gelynis farm is lovely - completely off-road hacking and reasonable rates. Have you heard of any other yards in the area? Thanks :)

It is a lovely yard... A friend of mine liveries there... I don't think they've got any spaces at the moment though for any version of stable livery - not sure if they have the option of straight grass...

Hi horses for Sale or Swap in Cardiff on Facebook, ask there... you'll have no prob finding one within half an hour radius... our yard is small and friendly but theres only grass livery left. Good luck with your move x
