Hi Guys,

Does anyone know of a Livery yard that will offer DIY in the following areas:

burghclere
newbury
thatcham
hermitage
cold ash
brimpton

I hope someone can help :o)

There is a nice little one I was at for a bit in Eling near Hermitage. The YO is lovely! It's called Eling Farm. There is also a couple along the road from Newbury to Hermitage on the right, but not sure of their names. Worth a drive by if that's the area you want? Heard there's a nice one in Bucklebury - the hacking there would be great! What sort of yard are you after? Smart with facilities or more relaxed and farmy?

There's also one by the station in Thatcham, and one in Coldash behind Threshers Barn, again - no idea what they are like though...I'll keep thinking...oh and New Barn Farm in Compromise - they have a XC course, or at least they used to...

Hi There,

Thank you for your recommendations. I would not touch Waterside Farm in thatcham, i hear the people who run the place are awful & the grass is way too rich...

I suppose we are looking for a laid back atmosphere but with an arena.

I hope you can help...

I'm the other side of Newbury so know nothing about the yards, I just remembered various names from my days working as an equine nurse! Not sure which ones have arenas. Maybe put an add up in Scats? Sure others will know of places :-)

Hi there,

I have been at Waterside Farm for a long time and am surprised that you have heard bad things. The owners are really helpful, though the husbands a bit of a pain about speed down the farm track. There is lots of grass but there are few weeds as they are sorted for us.

I know there have been problems with a couple of trouble-makers recently but they have gone now (maybe thats who you heard it from?). I would give them a try though I think there is a waiting list.

Good luck finding somewhere :)

I'm at Waterside Farm too!!! I LOVE it :D the only problem I have is the level crossing but hey ho

The grass is good, but we manage it (and feed less hay!) The YM is great, really helpful

Lucinda - hope you're happy at your new yard.

GC - who are you ??!!! :D:D:D:D:D
