Anyone know a decent livery yard in or around Glossop. A friend is looking for somewhere for her two horses and the yard I'm on is full.

Thanks :)

Lesley Pecks Lower House Farm Glossop
Hargate Hill
Ashes Lane? cant remember farm name
Also have a drive around the Tintwistle area theres a few yards there.

Yard I'm on only has room for one more (we're on top of the hill with the mast outside Hadfield), she could try the yard next door, i'll pm you the name as soon as I remember it..

Is it just DIY or do they offer part or full livery.

If I remember correctly they have a lovely manege, I looked at their yard years ago when I was looking to move but they were full.

They have a board up stating full livery or DIY, so think they do both, i'm going on 12 hour continentals (4 days on 4 days off, 4 nights on....) have checked with whether they can muck out on those days, they're more than happy to do it :)

Great and thanks for your help. I'll let her know although I know she's rather have them both on same yard.

The Sykes bought my little horsebox off me about 3 years ago - small world :)

They've still got it ;) If she does ring them, tell her to ask for Keith, Pat gets very forgetful these days :)

OK will do :)

Do you know of any yards or land for sale? She's got two horses at the moment but would even consider buying or leasing a place although think they are few and far between round here.

Thanks again

If it's the yard I think it is, make sure your friend has a good look round and asks plenty of questions about turn out, routine etc. YO can be a bit funny/odd, but it might be the stop cap she needs whilst finding something better.
Access to decent hacking is good from this end, so might be worth overlooking the downside... arena at our yard is hireable to those off yard at £3 for half an hour, so she'd still have access to lessons (we have a couple of freelance instructors who come up) :)
We're just up the lane from there, say 5 min hack?

Would you mind PM which yard you think it is please? Ad is very vague

My sister was on Lower Mudd Farm for ages and really liked it BUT the turnout isn't great so it depends on whether that is a priority or not. On the plus side it has an indoor as well as an outdoor school - I think it's the only yard in the area, apart from Hargate Hill, that does. It's not a particularly long drive from Glossop. And yep, the YO's son is a professional show jumper.

I don't really know the yards round Rowarth very well as I haven't been up there long and I'm on a private yard. I think Butcher's Piece, on Monk's Road, does livery (or it certainly did in the past) and the hacking out from there is very good. There is a yard on Coach Road in Hollingworth that I've heard good things about recently, but I can't remember the name! It's at the bottom though near to the main road. Decent off-road hacking from there as well I think. I know (or know of) quite a lot of yards in the area surrounding Glossop, rather than Glossop itself, but I'm not sure on all the names/ contact details. I could certainly recommend places for a drive around, if that would help?

Have you tried Faye at Pear Tree? Its behind the tip and I have heard really good things about the yard.

Not really many yards with good services and facilities in Glossop, I have given up and just travel instead to my horse now.
