Hi, I've only just signed up but thought you may be able to help me. I'm looking for a yard in the Neath area, could possibly go as far as Aberdare too. It must be safe and have a decent arena.

If anyone knows of anywhere in the area, please let me know.

Thank you! :)

What facilities are you after? I`m in neath

I know a few

im on diy at Abernant farm in Cimla you get basics, stable, field, but has great riding through forest park, no school but can use paddock in summer, me and another livery are very helpfull lol its small too 4 people ten horses between us :). cheap as chips too

JR edwards at top of cimla, has stables field and 2 schools indoor and outdoor

cimla equestrian is full livery with really good facilities think its £65wk

Ty canol in Cwmavon is full livery, school, think she`s £45-50 a week

Banwen farm is full livery with school etc £75 a week

Pant y sais, used to be riding school now just livery, right next to beach but thats about it for riding, has 2 indoors and outdoor schools if i remember rightly

There is also a new livery yard opened up in crynant with good facilities

I live in Neath and have horses at a small/medium sized yard in Bettws. It is 100% horse/welfare friendly and worth the travel of about 30 mins over the mountain road. Could share a lift if that would suit. DIY, part DIY, full livery. Reasonable rates. Mega friendly. 60x40 outdoor school. Great riding - everything from a quiet stroll round the block to a marathon blast round the mountains. Regular instructor if you want lessons. Jumps. Fabulous yard. PM me if you want any more info.

BoF, didn't realise that you travelled from Neath to the yard, not that far then.

Chestnut, BoF is at the yard I mentioned, I would really recommend.:)

Hi, thanks for the replies - I will read them all carefully. To clarify what I'm looking for...

I need the use of an arena - one that drains well and isn't slippery or too deep (have seen one recently that wasn't easy to ride on!). Arena is essential.

Also I would like the yard to be as secure as possible, people living on site would be ideal but I know that's not always possible.

I don't actually live in Neath itself but travel that way regularly. So I wouldn't want to go much further than Neath really.

I went to have a look at Banwen Farm (Bryncoch?) and I couldn't get there - the road was long and full of pot holes - the bottom of my car was getting a hammering so I had to turn around and go back. :(

I can't help but am also looking for a decent place to ride near Neath. I've just moved here and had to leave my horse behind in Dorset :-( and am desperately looking for something to share or exercise - do any of you S Wales people know of anybody who might need some help?

Sorry to hijack :-)

Llwyncwn Farm is one that's in Betws but not sure if that's the one Enfys and Box of Frogs were talking about.

There's 'Dave's Goats' too but that's much further up the mountain.

I think Banwen Farm have spaces, they're just off J45 M4.

I also know of a yard in Llanelli - stables, turnout, school, OK hacking, cross country course.

You could try posting a wanted advert on this FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/454581854562961/?fref=ts . Everyone on there is pretty helpful :).
