Theres only me, my auntie and 2 liverys at my Grandma's yard with 6 horses. No bitching and everyone helps each other out, shares rugs etc and always comes in for a cuppa tea
small 100%. I moved from a big yard with the best facilities going to a small livery yard with an outdoor arena and it was the best move I ever made. Much better environment, lovely people and much better YO's
Small. Unfortunately with a small yard, everyone knows everyone elses business so still can be bitchy! Where I am has 4 liveries (10 horses) and there's nearly always some rumbling discontent going on.
im going to be moving to a big yard from our private one in a few months as we are about to take over a riding school/livery yard! but wont be to bad cos we are in charge plus facilities are great

Well I am a livery at a riding school/livery place a love it
small. i have been on both large and small yards and apart from the place i have just moved from, they have all had their good points and i've made lots of friends. large yards are fine as long as there are the right mix of people.
the last large yard i was at was awful because i was the only one over 14 who rode in the evenings during the week. the only adults seemed to either ride during the day (cos they didn't have to work) or if it was nice at the weekend. As a result it was the most lonely miserable place i have ever kept any of my horses!
new yard is just me, the owner and one other livery and NO stress.
Can I ask what are peoples definitions of large or small? There are 20 liveries on our yard with approx 30 horses. Would that be large or small. I dont think it is particularly large but some people think it is? What are your views?
