Hi - yet again a 'poor wee new person' here wonders if anyone can help - looking for a nice friendly yard (assisted DIY) for new horse and myself in the Marlborough area of Wiltshire ?

Wish List !!

1) Must have decent school - indoor would be divine but of course not neccessary!!

2) Decent turnout - coming from a farm that is 95% clay mud something less cleggy would be heaven !!

3) Most important and will NOT sway on this one - Lots of lovely friendly people !! xx

Any thoughts many thanks
merlin and mum

Depending on exactly where you are, Ladysmith Equestrian at Chiseldon - turnout, outdoor school, wonderful yard owner and absolutely no yard bitchiness at all. Loveliest bunch of people. Masses of good hacking too as close to the Ridgeway!

Welcome :) Take a look at the Wiltshire Horse Riders group (link in my sig) if you have facebook and ask on there, there are some lovely yards advertised on there too :)

I think Ladysmith is full livery only but it is a lovely yard. You could also try Boomerang at Crooked Soley (near Chilton Foliat)

many thanks everyone who has posted and suggested places - very much appreciated for your time and help !! xx

I will search yards and get on the phone asap ! Watch out I could be bugging you soon !! lol

How about Southill Stables in Aldbourne, about 10 minutes from Marlborough.
www.southillstables.co.uk

I'm on DIY there, they have a floodlit outdoor school and turnout. I can vouch for the friendly people :)

I did look at Southhill but on the website they only advertise Full/part livery and a wintering out option. I will give thema phone tomorrrow if they do DIY

Thanks for the help ! x :)

Ladysmith does do part livery, but not DIY - sorry OP - I didn't read your post properly!

no worries Ladysmith does look lovely but I really need DIY - shame as it does look very smart ! Looked up Boomerang and again nice looking place!
looks like I will be spolit for choice !

There are lots of good places in the area - if you do contact somewhere recommended that doesn't fit the bill, don't be afraid to ask them if they can put you in touch with another yard. Good luck and let us know where you end up!

Will do. She's never really openly advertised anywhere other than a couple of sites and through word of mouth. She's got a brand new yard on the farm/hot water/horse walker/2 floodlit schools/hacking to the ridgeway, etc.

Not sure if she does DIY but worth a call!

I'll PM you now x
