Hi all,
Will be starting my final year of HND equine studies this September at Pencoed, just starting to look at uni’s to do a top-up year to get a degree - this will be for September 2020.

I’m not 100% sure what I want to specialise in, but so far I’m interested in doing therapy and rehab, I’ve found suitable courses at Bishop Burton and Moulton college.

My horse will be coming with me for the year, so just having a little look for yards in these areas. Google has shown a handful of yards but I’m sure there are more just not advertised as much. Typically I’m planning for my horses accommodation before mine!

Yard must/ideally have:
DIY or assisted DIY livery
All year turnout with 24/7 in dry months - preferably in a group
A school
Off road hacking - not prepared to hack on roads at all unless just crossing.

Currently paying approximately £140 a month which includes hay, so ideally something around this figure! And happy to travel within a 15 mile radius from the colleges. Hope I’m not looking for the impossible!

Thanks :)

you dont tend to find livery inc hay in Northampton, but diy will be £20 to £40 a week. Theres at least one yard near Moulton that you need to avoid at all costs! You will struggle to find anywhere at all thats solely off road hacking as well to be fair. I cant think of anywhere off hand.

There are some around the Beverley / driffield area and some in West hull if you're coming to BB they may be a little more than you're used to paying though!
I know there are a few other members on here that actually live closer (I'm based right out on the coast so can't be too much help!) But there are a few around if you're willing to travel a little way :)

Great thank you, I don’t mind buying in hay or paying separately:)
That’s a shame about the hacking, I’ve been really lucky to have found farms with acres upon acres to ride around!

Yeah I think any yard in the areas will be a step up from South Wales prices eek..! There’s a possibility that I may end up going to look at the colleges next year, so if no one comments I can always ask around, I’m sure there are loads of students who keep their horses nearby :)

If you don’t mind the drive, cottingham equestrian centre is amazing. Indoor and outdoor school, off-road hacking and large grass paddocks and regular events held on site :)
