Was thinking of some kind of one but hubby always worries about the cost versus the profit

For those who have them are they cost effective?
do they cost a lot to run on electricity?
do you make anything having one installed?

Depending on how trustworthy your liveries are, you could offer another type of solution. At an old yard I was on, they used to have a cupboard and fridge full of food that were both locked with a number code. The 16+ got access to this code and when you took something, you would write down on a sheet (which had everyone's name and every product) that you had taken one. There was even a system where you left a l for unpaid and changed it to a P when you'd paid. The money went into a little locked money box and every week the yard owner did a quick tally of what was left and what was taken to see if they added up. We never really had a problem doing this as people were all quite honest.

We have a sweet vending machine for "Help the Heroes" charity and I would estimate it takes between £80- £100 per month. I don't know exactly how much as although it's £1 per sweet tub the local sweet rep comes each month to take old tubs left and replace with new and they take the money for the charity at the same time. It's my children's favourite job choosing the sweets to go in it!! My husband thinks that a drinks one would be quite profitable on this basis but I haven't had the chance to investigate it.

Lol, I read this as a vending machine for a livery yard, ie. One with vet wrap, poultices, or other horse stuff you may need in a hurry, but have run out of.

Don't know about profit margins but be aware that they need cleaning and replenishing very regularly (every other day) and are a bit of a PITA to do!!!

My work place has at any one time 20+ people in, and then the 40 clients. They got rid of the machine cause it was not paying for itself.

Depends where your workplace is.
At the yard, I was forever using the service I mentioned because I'm useless and always forgot to bring a drink with me...and then may aswell have some chocolate too!

At riding club we operate an honesty box system for lessons. We leave the tuck cupboard open and people help themselves and put the money in the box (everything's 50p to make it easy). Then the last committee member to leave locks it up (with the money inside)
