Sorry, yet another yards thread!

Looking for a yard within max 20-30 mins of Newbury in any direction. Main requirements are flood-lit school and all year turnout. Preferably DIY but would consider part dependant on price.

Any help much appreciated, I'm becoming desperate!

My yard is near hartley wintney, hook. Has assisted livery, part, full. Assisted £50 a week mon-fri and include feed turnout am and bring in pm, change rug. We have excellent floodlit school- rubber/sand, all year turnout all p&r,toilet, feed room, kitchen, hacking.

Oooh...there's Fair Oak Grange (they have a website if you google it), Boomerang Stables (Russ Hardy) but not sure of tel no. There's Maple Ash on Snelsmore Common. New Barn Farm I think. You've also got big yards such as the one near Pangbourne (can't remember the name of it now). There's loads around - have you been into Scatts in Newbury? Is it still there? There's also a new yard just the other side of the railway station in Thatcham - my friend keeps her horse there. It used to be a pig farm but she was saying the other day that there's a small indoor, planned outdoor and ok hacking. She's on diy/ part I think.

Thanks cazzaroogie but Hartley Wintney's too far.

Had considered Church Brook but again, it's a bit too far. Do you know how much they charge though?

I'm actually just SW of Newbury (about 4 miles)

Tidmarsh Stud?
Cullinghood?
Hardwick stud?
Jan Fletchers place (struggling to think of the name, Borne something maybe?)

Thanks S_V

Fair Oak's way too expensive (115 p/w part and don't do DIY). Hadn't thought of Boomerang, do they do liveries?

I emailed New Barn but that may be a bit too far and expensive as they don't do DIY. Sounds a fab place though.

Have looked in Scats but wasn't really anything last time I checked.

Could enquire about that new place near Thatcham station, I had heard about it but also heard a few negative things. Does your friend like it there?

And Cullinghood near Pangbourne is again too far, would love to go there but can't justify the cost on fuel

Thanks again

Off the top of my head I think CB is in the region of £45-50pw DIY but I think thats inclusive of a few things, hay/straw and possibly some turnout. Their part looked resonable £75-80 from memory.
You are probably the wrong side of newbury for it though.

The yard in Thatcham is ok according to my friend. We lived near the station in Thatcham for a while, but moved out of the area over 2 years ago now. Boomerang *I think* do liveries - I used to have lessons with Russ and another acquaintance stables her 2 horses there now - not sure if there's liveries or because she's know him for a while. My friend who has a horse in Thatcham was talking about a place between Newbury and Hungerford a while ago - it was just off the main road down one of the lanes - not much help am I?!!! We kept our boy at Maple Ash on Snelsmore Common - it was ok and there was DIY there along with some services.

I compete at Boomerang but thought they just kept comp horses there, I'll add that to my list of enquiries.

Hadn't heard of Maple Ash? What facilities do they have, how big etc? I'll try and search for their details.

I'm next to Hamstead Growers which is turning into a livery yard next Spring but they've yet to build the stables and I think they're only doing Part and Full liveries which isn't really ideal seeing as it's next door!

If you happen to find out about the place between Newbury and Hungerford then could you please let me know as that's not far from me!

Thanks again

I know of a couple in Padworth (near Tadley), but might be too far for you?

Try Threshers Barn tack shop in Newbury- there might be some adverts or the owner may know of some places?

Boomerang do liveries

Everyone there is really nice, and you have use of all the facilites whenever you need it, and great turnout..basically al the things you listed. And is v. close to newbury

Hi all. Thought I'd reply to this and ask you all for help too as, it looks like i'm going to have to move yards soon too due to a price rise at the one i'm currently at.

I'm also in Newbury and am interested in all yards around Newbury and Thatcham. Will also consider any in Tadley/ aldermaston/ hungerford/ surrounding areas.

Must be diy or perhaps part depending on price. I am not rich but will pay a reasonable amount haha!

Would highly prefer a yard with a "proper" school.

Any help is much appreciated!!!

(Have looked at maple ash and its waaaaaay out of my price range!)

The main one that springs to mind is church brook farm in Tadley, they have a website if you google. Nice school, good turnout and reasonably priced.
