Livery yards York

I’m starting to have a look for a livery yard near the university of York, but as a student I don’t really know the area that well so looking for recommendations!

I’m currently in my second year and would be looking to bring my horse next year. I never considered bringing him with me as I was under the impression I would not have time at University, but it’s quite the opposite and I’m going crazy from having nothing to do all day!

Askham Bryan college is really nice, good arena, I’m not sure if they do external livery, it’s not far from the Uni, I’m guessing you have access to transport.

They don't do external livery anymore. If you join York Equestrian on facebook and ask on there that's a good place to start with.

There are a couple of yards in Heslington - as Kaylum says, join the FB group and that will be helpful. Off the top of my head there is Primrose Hill Stables and there's definitely another one very near by, although the name escapes me at the moment. One of them is strict DIY whereas I think the other does assistance.

Kath at Cottage Farm on Bad Bargain Lane in Osbaldwick does livery, it's a bit rough and ready (fields not up to much) but she's an honest person and a good instructor. She will tell you there's no hacking but that's not true, you just need a horse who's sensible in traffic and then you can roam around all over the place by riding over the Hull Road (not as bad as it sounds - there are traffic lights) and through the university campus to Heslington.

ETA - all of those are easily doable on a bike
