I'm trying to find a livery yard in the Chessington/Leatherhead/Cobham area and was wondering if anyone knew of any? I have found two that seem suitable (Woodruffe Stables and Owlbrook Stables) but they might be a bit too far (about 25 mins drive away - I live in Wimbledon), so any information on those would be great as well, thank you!!

I live in Wimbledon too :)

I've just started riding again after a long gap, so am still having lessons and haven't bought my own horse yet, but I've been riding regularly at Chessington Equestrian Centre. They have good facilities and a large livery yard (separate from the RS) with a jumping arena and indoor school.

Oh, and CEC is just next to A3, so very easy to get to (though I cycle there as I don't drive)

hi, have you looked at chalkpit farm stables in bookham? not to be confused with chalkfarm -they are off the main Guildford road and from Wimbledon its about 25 mins to get there door to door? I spent years trying to find a decent yard when I had my horse and lived in central London and this was a great yard to be at - worth travelling out for -especially as I would know that if I couldnt get down -my horse was being loved and cared for brilliantly - low turn over of liveries (always a good sign) really friendly (never moody!!) , professional staff and they put the horses before their pockets -BHS approved, small yard- always have a nice bunch of liveries too -some happy hackers, others go and compete dressage/jumping (they don't allow bitching!). They do 1/2 day all year turnout (and it really is all year -unlike lots of yards that say and do then dont!) they have CCTV,alarm, liveries social area, a garden,20 x 60 rubber and sand arena, good off road hacking too on door step etc....
they may not be the poshest looking yard in the area, but boy do they look after the horses well! worth a look as I know that they did have some spaces coming up (due to horses relocated out of the area or something) their number is 01372 456 644

I would recommend either Chessington Equestrian Centre or Chalkpit Lane Stables ( this is next door to Chalkpit Farm ) in Bookham.

Try Denbies Livery Stables, they have a website and have just seen that there are 2 vaccancies on there which is quite rare. The area is fantastic providing hacking on the doorstep and you can go for miles, 20x40 arena and a mixture of some competition riders through to happy hackers. I believe the horses go out all year round and are well looked after by a good team of staff. Friendly yard from what i have heard and there is transport if you dont have your own.

Close to Dorking Station for trains and M25/A3

Good luck with your search

You could also try Woodstock South which is just over the A3 bridge from CEC.

Year round turn out, 24/7 from about april to october if you want it. SJ school, dressage school. Horse walker. Horse wash room with hot water and a solarium (great for winter baths!) Secure tack room which complies with insurance requirements. Part, full & assisted livery - but no grass only livery. The site is shared with a Farriers yard (but you don't have to use them if you don't want to!) and there is someone on site 24 hours.

Probbaly fractionally easier access to off road hacking than CEC - but only because we're the other side of the bridge really.

Polly at CEC is great too - it is really just where you feel you and your horse would fit best!

PM me if you want the YO's contact details.
