I want to buy some lightweight, quiet and reliable clippers. I need them to be able to do a full clip on a 15.2 spooky section D. I was looking at the battery version of the harmony and just wanted your opinions on them before i bought some. If you have any other clippers that may be ok feel free to comment, because i don't want to waste my money.
 
I bought some last week and have just sent them back!

The battery bit actually clips on to your belt so there's still a lead. I have power to my stables so just used them on the mains. I sent them back bacuse (a) the wider set of blades was blunt and wouldn't clip his hair properly (fine coated and still coming through so not hard work) and (b)I found the blades got very hot... poor horse was flinching so kept having to stop and let them cool down... ended up doing a blanket clip with the narrow blades.
They were quiet though!

I have some and *touch wood* they've been great

. I've got a cob so you can imagine how fluffy he gets. They struggled a bit last year when I did a full clip for the first time with them. They were fine for the most part but on the really scurfy bit they struggled. Managed it though

), and I've done his feathers with them a fair few times over this year as well.

ETA: One of those clips was on a 4 (maybe 5- I can't actually remember!) year old that had never been done before- she didn't bother (partly her nature but they are quiet)
 
i'm also considering the harmony & the moser/horseline avalon as want a lightweight quiet clipper

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT WATTAGE THE HARMONY IS? i've already discounted the wahl switchblade as i think the 45watt motor won't be tough enough even tough they say they can do a full clip

any opinions?
 
I have got the liveryman harmony battery clippers and get on very well with them, however I ordered the fine blades which I use for a full clip on a TB-type coat as I found the wide blades that they come with didn't cut the hair short enough! They do get hot as do most clippers I just swap between two blades. Can't really comment on the noise as yes they are quiet but my horse has to be fully sedated anyway so don't know what he thinks of them!!
 
I've got them & have used them fine on 3 different horses - 2 quite fluffy, 1 very large. But I only do belly & gullet as mine all live out. I found them very quiet & easy to use. The people in the shop did say that if I wanted to full clip more than 1 horse best to do on different days.
