Its depressing, its that time of the year again already!

Does anyone else have the liveryman mustang clippers? I think they call them the bronco clippers now.

I've dusted mine off ready for next week and had forgotten how noisey they where. I was just wondering if they are all like that?

No, but..........I have a pair called Dextella clippers, the other day my friend brought up her brand new Liveryman ones - not sure of which make, but were £100 more expensive than mine. Mine have done 6 clips so far and been brilliant, all be it a bit noisy! Hers made funny noises after 15 mins and were jsut as noisy. Mine are EXACT copies of hers.
Plus mine clip fab on tough feathers and cobby manes. They go through a greasy coat like a hot knife through butter, and the blades were sharp enough for another 3 clips (ok I don't know how long they are meant ot last but they were fine blades)

mine are about 10 years old now and have been used on everything from cattle and horses to the dog. I find them fantastic but very noisey.

Its interesting yours are exactly the same, will watch out for dexella.

your horse is gorgeous by the way

Aww thanks - hes like a big soppy pony and my best friend ever (sounds weird coming from a 24yr old! haha)

I got the Dextella ones from a farm shop I found on Ebay - I think they are still there. I was dubious at 1st, but after having had 2 other sets of well known clippers die trying to clip my boy I thought what the heck, they are cheaper so its less of a loss if they go belly up.

Also my friend managed to clip her ponys FACE with them, so they cant be THAT bad - but I do think I will be getting ear plugs for next time.

I need the blades sharpened though, been keeping quiet as I know my dad wants to do them as he has some silly tools sharpening qualification thing, but I soooooooo don't trust him! Will just sneak them to the farm shop me thinks.

Yes, we've just bought some ourselves. Last year my friend's brand new clippers died after one clip and we ended up having to borrow another friend's clippers which were mustangs. They are noisy, but really got through the job well. So this year I went to the shop, found out exactly what they were and got some exactly the same. The ones we used last year are of indefinite age, she bought them secondhand about 15 years ago and they have clipped goodness knows how many horses in that time and are still going strong. The lady in the shop tried to sell us the arena plus ones (£5 more expensive), but after the problems last year we wanted to stick with what we knew!
