My previous horse lived out but i have just bought a youngster who is quite spooky but at my new yard they come in at night.

I was wondering what peoples views were on horses living out?? Less spooky?? other views??

Try apple cider vinegar. It strangely helped my mares spookiness loads! Calmed her right down, and it is all natural! :)

Depends on where your fields are! When I got my at the time youngster, I kept him on a working farm and a year later moved him to a yard where his turnout was adjacent to the road we had to hack out on. He's now completly bomb proof!

my "baby" spooked at me sneezing yesterday :D !!

she lives out 24.7 with my bigger horse...they are both much better for it!

if you have an option - try it....id never want any of my horses living in again!

My previous yard they lived out all summer but come in in the winter which i much prefer as i hate to bring in when its still hot and light :-(

I am on a yard with one other girl so not much going on on the yard although he is fab in traffic just spooky on the bridletracks!

I think when living out they tend to be more stable, less stressy and less prone to OTT reactions in general so yes probably a bit less spooky.

Having said that my old lad has recently been turned out, as a result of this a few long term minor health issues have improved and he's become very, very lively, like a 4yo again....
