Lloyds Bank advert!

Just watched it :) So lovely! I remember when I was little the only reason I went with Lloyds was because of the horse! :D
 
Like exmoor pony princess, I also work there, 3 decades worth though! and this has to be the most moving advert they have ever done.
The horses were supplied by the Devils horsemen, and my daughter used to work for them too, so double connection for me!
The bank is also doing a lot of 250 anniversary things for the staff, too!

When I first saw it I was trying to work out what it could be advertising! When it got to the end I had very mixed feelings. It is a beautiful advert for the relationship and the bond between horses and humans, not sure that is how I feel about a bank tbh. And yes, I am a cynical old so and so :) SpottyAppy, I used to work for them, back in the late 70s, times have changed I bet!!

Me too - I had to wonder what Lloyds has done for horses themselves. I bank with them and have never seen anything about them contributing to the native breeds, bridlepaths, horse museums etc. ????
Perhaps those that work there could let us know, and/or bring it to the attention of their management that some of us in the horsey world want to know what their connection with the bog-standard horse actually is (other than a lovely ad and a symbol on their sign).

Not aware we do anything specific with horses, but there is always a charity of the year- currently children in need- which the bank fund raises for.

Well, personally i would rather watch an advert on horses than children (sorry to all those parents out there)! But i did feel when watching the ad that lloyds was benefitting from horses without the horses benefitting from them. Perhaps we could suggest a donation to help some of the rare native British Breeds???
 
wkiwi, thats kind of what I was feeling. I know the bank have a black horse as their symbol but other than that I couldnt really "get" the connection.
 
We were desperately trying to work out what it was advertising - and it was a LONG advert! I have no idea if it works in advertising terms but it made me pay attention which I guess is good. Lovely, beautiful horse. If nothing else, thanks Lloyds for some beautiful images.

(No worse in my opinion than using labrador puppies to advertise loo roll, or Old English sheepdogs to advertise paint...)
 
Just seen it, got watery eyes in almost an instant!

In my opinion, it makes perfect sense for a bank whose symbol is a black horse to make an advert full of black horses. And if it catches the eyes of non-horsey people, and makes just a few of them take more notice of horses when they see them, I'm happy with that.

For those asking why Lloyds is connecting with "normal" horses, do they also ask why other companies make connections with animals, e.g. O2 with dogs and cats, i.e. the "Be more dog" adverts? (I love those ads!)

Yes, if i use the product/business.
I don't use O2 and don't really like the advert either - at least Lloyds has the horses being natural. But then this is just my personal opinion and i am fairly immune to ads anyway! :)
I do fully agree with you though that having non-horsey people take more notice of horses is a great thing.
 
I like it, but reading that it's been 10 years since they used horses in ad campaigns regularly made me feel properly old! :D
 
i loved the advert. I went with my son to the Devils Horsemen panto show in December and my son got to meet the Lloyds bank horse at the end and absolutely loved him and stood there for ages having cuddles with the now retired horse
 
I was under the impressions they traditionally used a black Trakehner stallion... Kind of sad they didn't bother this time. Nice ad though...

For those whinging, it's not like the people who supplied the horses do anything 'for horses' either. Not in the sense of giving money to a rescue or whatever anyway. So do they earn the right to do stuff with horses purely by virtue of being "horsey"? Horses don't "belong" to the horsey subset of people. Anyone can decide to "use" them in an ad and it's really quite ridiculous to imply they need to somehow have a "real" connection with horses to earn a right to do so. I am glad whenever I see something that engages non-horsey people with horses - that is a service to horses all by itself.
