She started full time work and he was going to be left 8 hours a day and for a puppy lab, well.....you cant do that, so she was sensible and placed him with us.

8 hours thats terrible and just plain cruel, why would you want one if you are going to leave it that long.

I worry if we leave Pip 2hrs even with kong, chews and toys. Whats the recommended time you can leave a puppy just out of interest.

Well it happens, she did not work when she got him (some folk get them knowing they will be left this long) atleast she started with good intention, we had a woman moaning that the puppy was weeing and poohing just the other day a lab x female, she left it more than 7 hours alone at 4 months, not sure WTF else she expected:confused:, she aksed us for another dog to be its pal and keep it company....erm no! that wont stop it pissing love, it needs human interaction and a friggin loo break:rolleyes:

Sorry, I did not see the last bit. We will certainly rehome dogs that can be left for a long period (folk have to work), but not puppies under a year (and not a high energy breed like a lab), I would recommend no more than 3-4 hours and most certainly a break and a walk inbetween.

Well you see why she wont get one from rescue and who can blame them, its not always about the garden.

She is 18 months now. Was left 8 hours for the first time at about 12 months.

Exactly, a routine was in place and she was toilet trained, the woman who spoke to us was moaning it was wizzing all over, a young pup cannot help needing a wizz:p
You never got her knowing you would be going to work and leaving her from a baby for 8 hours a day.

Anyways you barely work, u lazy bint:p:D

Nooooo when she was a baby she was never left more than afew hours, her bog training was of course done very gradually and 8 hour stints were total emergencies. (My car broke down / I had to go to hospital)

And i do work you cheeky bint.... just part time.

With alot of last min overtime.

I will be dropping the overtime though.... the luxuries of having an OH that works his arse off :p

Well have to say Caylas puppy guide was brilliant and Pip is completely house trained, she goes to the door and barks, sleeps all through the night, had a couple of restless night whimpering with her teeth, put on puppy Bonjella and a frozen kong and straight back to sleep.

Thank you Cayla.

Thank you and he is a she typpo what are you like:D

Well we all sat around as a family and discussed long before we had her, did all our research health tested and the breeder gave us a right grilling(rightly so) but loved the fact we had them before and knew our old breeder.
