Lo-cal balancers?? Help please.

just been to buy my latest lot of feed & been charged £34 for a bag of lo-cal balancer & £31 for a bag of grass nuts

.
am sure it wasnt that much last time.
they only stock Baileys now too so no choice either.
any good feed merchants/stockists in north cambs/south lincs & anyone recomend any good brands of lo-cal balancer.

Yes there is Hackamore Stud in Stamford/Bourne, they are lovely and delivery too.

Also Feedability at Pondersbridge nr Ramsey are fab

£34 for Lo-cal!!!!!! Try Evenkeel at about £10!

I would phone them up and double check the prices. £34 is the about price of a sack of Baileys outshine. Surely they've made a mistake?

think i nearly choked when she told me the total, not paid that much for feed in years (and back then i brought a lot more in straights)

Do you really mean £31 for a bag of grass nuts? That is more shocking than the price of the balancer to me! Grass nuts should be less than £10 for a 20kg bag!

Also, does your horse really need a balancer? If you are worried about his vit/min intake then a broad spectrum vit/min supplement will work out cheaper, although he might not even need that.

apparently those prices were right & surely i know that horse food is expensive! they are new to area & dont think they will be around for long.

had the boys diet worked out by a nutrionalist, one is very old & doesnt cope well with winter (but cant be kept in typically) & the other is a lardy bugger on nothing but has feet that are shaling despite being really good in every other respect.
they both get oil for general condition & garlic for the migies & flies (evil little buggers around here they are.)

I pay £24.40 for my Lo Cal which is still quite expensive but convenient to pick up.

I have always liked the Multi-Vits a good supp if not feeding balancer I used to use this with Good Doer and either Allen Page Calm and Condition for my TB - yes I know not many TB good doers! She looked very good on it.

Ditto the comments about grass nuts!!!!!!
I get Top Spec Feed Balancer, Can't recall exact price but around £27. They have an award winning helpline if you want assitance with sorting a horse's diet out. They don't force their products down your throat (lol) either.

BTW my feed balancer is 'Top Spec Balancer Lite', for good doers. They do have a leisure horse one, and another one (competition horses I think)

Yes (big sis type) Angua, i made the polite excuse of "oops i must have left my card at the petrol station" and left, boys are on last few days of feed now so will be heading out on monday for more.

How can they charge that much more than RRP.
I tend to agree they wont be there for much longer. horses are expensive enough to feed without being ripped off like that!

Something abit wrong with those prices, I pay £23.75 for Lo-Cal, not sure about grass nuts, but wouldn't have thought much more than £9.00 for a bag...... Crazy Prices.
