Hello:) I'm just wondering does anyone know anything adout Lo Calorie Balancer?? I'm not sure weather to feed my horse it or not. I let him out to the field in the morning with 2 slices of a hay bale, I bring him into his stable in the evening and give him another 2 slices of hay. He has no other hard feed at all. Will Lo Calorie balancer be okay to feed him on?? Or does he need any hard feed at all?? He gets ridden about 2 -3 times a week because of our horrible wet weather!!!! :(Thanks any help would be great!!
 
I feed Baileys Lo Cal mixed with a handful of Mollichaff Calmer chop. Its fine to feed on its own and it isn't at all heating or fattening and my two love it.

I wouldn't feed any extra hard feed unless you feel your horse needs more energy. If he starts to drop weight you can always up the hay ration.

If he is doing well on the hay then i wouldn't add a hard feed. If he needs a little extra I'd just buy an all round vitamin and mineral supplement and add to a handful of chaff to ensure his diet is balanced :)
 
I agree with the last poster, would go for all round vit and min supp, the lo cal balancer is the same but will add other stuff that it doesnt sound as if your naglet requires (extra protein etc).
 
Thanks for the reply!! Should I gradually introduce it to him??? If I go hunting do you think I should give him hard feed along with the Lo-calorie Balancer or what do you think would be the best thing to do??? He can sometimes get very tempermental when he is given some hard feed!
 
Introduce it over 2-3 days as you only feed about a mugful of Lo-Cal. I would wait until after you have been hunting before you decide about exta hard feed. The last thing you want is an attack of temperament in the middle of the hunting field! You can always feed more hay if you feel he is dropping weight.
 
My mare went silly when i started giving her lo cal balancer. i was giving her that and chaff, within a month or two her hooves dried out and the farrier advise to take her off it straight away.
