I'm sorry to post what could be such a small thing, but I so excited that I have to brag.
My girl used to load no problem then after a fall in a trailer she refused point blank. Sooooo......
I bought her a trailer of my own, but after weeks of trying, she banged her head then later tried to lay down in it! Obviously worried about falling again I sold the trailer on and bought a tired old lorry and I really mean old. OH and his friend then tidied it up and put in a new floor. I had to drive it before I put her on and that was scarey for me. After lots of no goes and non cooperation by her, today she was lunged, donned with a monty halter, sweat rugs and boots ready for the big trip. I was wearing a hard hat and gloves as i had needed these every time Id tried her before. This time she amazed me and just walked straight on behind me like the pro she once was, she tied up lovely (although she made it clear that she didn't want the partitions to narrow) which I moved for her. The OH jumped in the cab, I closed the ramp and off we went. It was only a quick route around the block but she was super and travelled and unloaded like I or anyone else who knows her would never believe was possible, just perfect!
Lots of treats and fuss followed by a good roll in the field for her, a big smile from me and a sigh of relief from the OH who by the way deserves a huge pat on the back for financing, supporting and just doing what I asked.
I feel that we've killed the demon of her fears today, now she knows the lorry isn't a trailer and that she will travel herringbone from now on. We'll do the same tomorrow and on. Next week we will go out for a great hack somewhere nice. I feel like I have wings!
So if you've got a no loader DON'T GIVE UP!
