Tell me, is the more prominent 'loaded' shoulder the weaker or stronger shoulder? What effects would you expect from this? For example, if the near shoulder is loaded, is it likely that the horse will struggle more to bend correctly to the left, without falling in on that shoulder? What is the best course of action to try and even the shoulders out?
I ask because my boy's near scapula sits higher and is more prominent than on the off side. When started last year, the shoulders seemed to even out more with lots of long and low stretch work. It seems to suddenly have become more prominent again now we are doing more typical schooling and starting to canter. Incidentally, the near fore hoof is flatter than the off, and my boy has navicular, which seems to be under control with remdial schooling. There is some debate whether his ND is consequence of the shoulder set, or vice versa. Any thoughts/experiences very welcome.
