hi my mare has never been a easy loader but today was a joke, 4hrs and i still didnt have her on. didnt even get her hinds on once?
she doesnt get silly, just wont go on point blanc. quite happley stands there with her fronts on.
is not scared just being a cow. wanted to kill her by the time i left.
i tried food and the lunge line behind her and a good whack not that she noticed?
Anyone have any ideas??

i reckon u need to back to basics and reestablish respect on the ground with her first because if she isnt scared of going in then she just walking all over u because of a lack of respect. wat is she like on the ground with you in general? can you shift her all around u with the lightest touch etc? if not try going back to this level and get her to the point she will move in any direction around u with the lightst touch, then move onto getting her to move in all directions on a long lead rope, then a lunge rope until u can get her to move in any direction with minimal effort and movement on your part. then she will be respecting u on the ground much more. also - if poss, dont just attempt to load her when u want to travel - try and lead her thru the lorry as often as poss to make it an every day thing like going in a stable etc until she just accepts it like any other routine thing

I totally agree that there must be an understanding and acceptance of groundwork before you even start to load, using force or food is destined to fail.

I agree with bramble and the watcher, going back to basics should help. Also once the groundwork is established you might find it easier to start with a trailer than a box.
