Ok, this sunday I am on a mission to move all my guys to a new stables and am feeling quite nervous about it. There is a pathetic yard rule where they are now saying that No horse boxes are allowed on the yard, so all loading has to be done in the car park. To me this seems really dangerous. I have an extremely strong mare with a foal at foot who also is proofing to be really strong. I'm worried that if they run off they might hurt somebody or get hit by a car if they go up the road. I also have three yearlings that could also be fun to load. Does anyone have any advice to make this move go more smoothly???

Yes, tell your Yard Owner that you'll be loading on the yard whether they like it or not - you're leaving anyway its not like relations could be much more strained!

I would love to do that but she has put in an electric gate that you cant get through without her consent. Its really bad, she wont let farriers or vets in either if she's in a bad mood, thats why im leaving!!

OMG - no wonder you are moving ! How can she run a yard like that !! Surely if she is a horsey person, she can see how dangerous it can be ! Really hope it goes okay, only thing I can suggest is if you have to load them outside is to have loads of people to help you.

What a horrible, inconsiderate , ignorant yard owner. It isn't rocket science working out that your babies need a safe environment to be loaded. I don't blame you for leaving. Hope your new yard works out.

good god thats mad!!! try and get some temporary gates, fencing panels, anything! and fence it off yourself, failing that have a word with YO and tell her she is being completely unreasonable! thats mad, print this thread off and stick it under her nose!

How ridiculous- no wonder you are leaving.
Can you get your ramp as close to the gate as possible, and have some helpers. Make a loading 'loading chute' with friends holdng lunge lines each side.
Pop a bridle and long line on the mare, wear gloves and hard hat.
Good luck
