Can I please have loading trainer/help in South East Cornwall please?
My mare is usually pretty good loading, has at times loaded herself, but is being a bit sticky at the moment - I’m sure this is me not setting her up right for it. She is kept with my friends two ponies and we got a lovely lorry for moving them between her place and mine, and hopefully for fun stuff. Her two have only ever loaded twice - once to hers after purchase, and once from mine to hers. I think my horse picks up on the drama and then I can’t rely on her to be the sensible grown up. So we can do it, but it’s a stress, and I need it not to be a stress - I want to use this lorry for trips out and vet visits etc, it’s a lovely lorry, loads of space, massive pay load, really well maintained etc, recently had MOT, so is lovely and sound.
I don’t want someone who will chase them with sticks, someone who can guide us in to what we are doing wrong to set them up properly and give us the right tools. Thank you

Watch Michael Peace videos which may be on you tube. There is one of him loading, then showing the woman owner how to load.
He uses leading, ground work leading, and eventually loading, using advance and retreat then rest and then repeat. The only time i did this with an RS mare about to go on holiday, it took about 30 minutes and our RS mare took longer going the whole way up the ramp. But it worked.

I was an elderly beginner rider, interested in Behaviourism. The yard staff got quite impatient with me because to them, speed and efficiency in getting things done, were what counted as professionalism. This is so on many yards where staff are busy. To load a horse you need as much time as it takes. But in the long run, that time will be saved as the mare will load well in future.
