Well brought the trailer to the yard this evening to practice loading Ali without a big fit. Luckily no rears today! First few times he only put his two front hooves at the bottom end of the ramp, but he was a lot calmer about it. Let him have a sniff for a while, and ask him to go back as he wasn't going to go any further that time! After about 20 minutes we had progress! All 4 hooves on the ramp, let him have a better sniff about, and at his own will he went in, had a few chews on the hay net, reward him with a few pats, a second later he backs out like mad. Try another few times, get him into the trailer again at his own will, wait a minute or two he was fine. Began tying him up as he seemed contented, just as I finish typing him up a second later he backs out again in a fit. So to quiten him down we asked him to come half way into the trailer (he definitely wasn't going to go any further...), give him a few pats, and ask him to back out quietly. At least he isn't going beserk when he sees the ramp, so a very slight bit of progress has been made!

Previous owner said that he was fine to load without a partition, but wasn't too keen on loading with partitions. When we went to collect him we had the partitions in as PO had loading him in her trailer with partitions that morning, and he was fine. He had a huge fit, so we took out the partitions and he loaded fine then... He's 16.1hh, but when he rears up he's a hell of a lot bigger!
