"This agreement is made on the ___between the parties ______(thereafter referred to as the owner)and _________ (there after referred as the loaner. The term loaner in the case of the loaner being under 18 years of age also infers their parent’s responsibility and acceptance) for the part loan of _________(there after referred to as the horse)."

Basically as the loaner is 16 I want to cover myself by making her mum responsible also for her actions as I've included in the contract about looking after tack, that riding has it's own inherit risks, that it's advisable for her to get riders insurance etc.

So does this bit: "The term loaner in the case of the loaner being under 18 years of age also infers their parent’s responsibility and acceptance" - make sense, any better way of wording it?

yip makes sense to me too, might be worth getting the parents to sign to contract too rather than the 16 yr old.

I would get a solicitor to sign it as the police will always cite it as a civil agreement and will not treat it as a criminal matter as "its not in the public interest to pursue" it might not be in Joe publics interest but it is in ours as horse owners!
