Loan horse - WWYD?

I gave my loan horse back well over a month ago. He was a 14.3hh welsh x arab well over 20yo. When he came last November he was morbidly obese and I was advised to put him on a diet immediately. Lost that weight and brought back into full weight. Lost a bit of condition over august with poor grass but feed and hay was changed to compensate for this. Now the owner has contacted a friend 6 weeks later who has told us that he is underweight and not fit to be rode because of this. She has done nothing but chucked him out unrugged since september. We have had arguments with this woman before over his saddle and I don't have any more patience left. How would you go about this? I'll put pictures on my profile.
 
I'm not sure it's got anything to do with you anymore has it? If the horse has been back with its owner for a month, is she saying he's underweight because of you! I'd just ignore it.
 
I don't think there is anything you can do, it is not your horse and your loan has finished (?), I'm afraid you have to walk away, if it becomes a serious welfare issue then you have to get someone else (BHS welfare officer) involved.
 
Yes the loan had finished she basically said let me know when you want me to have him back and we give her a months notice at the start of august
 
What a shame, pity for the loan to end like this.

Who was it told you that he was overweight? Was it a vet? Coz it might be worth asking them to put what they said in writing and send it on to the owner just so they know.

I don't see what the owner's gripe is TBH. The horse has been back in their home and they've been responsible for feeding/managing, and IF it was underweight, they've had a chance now to look at the horse and sort it out a bit, feed it up or whatever.

I see this as an unfortunate difference of opinion as to management; which has potential to get nasty, so think you'd be wise to keep out of it as far as possible and the less you say the better TBH.
