Couldn't get back on here last night, damn proxy error seems to have reared its ugly head again. As I asked yesterday, I would be very grateful if those of you who seemed to have a negative opinion about the manager at Reaseheath could pm with your reasons for this. I really would like to know all the facts so that I can be sure our horse is in good hands. Thank you very much.

guys, i started this tread as it is something i am mulling over, if people wish to have digs at each other please dont do it hear, its experiances and thoughts i want to be reading not jibes and rudeness,

for thoose that have shared their input thank you, its still not out of the question, as bicton college is 15 mins from me, i would be able to keep a close eye on him,

im waiting to see there contract, i know its done on a 6 week trial so thats a plus point, but it would depend on if i want to take him back for any reason ect,

Not sure if your reply directed at me but I hope I am not being rude to anyone. All I am trying to do is find out if there are any reasons why I should be concerned about my horse, which is why I have asked for PMs from the people who had a poor opinion of the manager. As I said in my original reply to you we are very happy with Murphs care and would be really gutted if I found things weren't as I thought.
Good luck with your enquiries about your local college. One thing I didn't mention was that daughter is able to take him any weekend to competitions if she wants (hasn't done so cos think he deserves his weekends off).

murphysminder.... wasnt directed at you, i can imagine that you have been caused to worry.... that was intresting about being allowed to compete, as i often compete at the college anyway... i like the idea of that!

dose the college have insurance that covers your horse??

The best advice I can offer, is to find out who is in charge of the yard...who oversees morning yards, deciding which horses are used in lessons etc and go to chat with them. At that point you can tell them exactly what your horse is like, what s/he can/can't do...any points that the YM needs to watch, and you should also say what you want in terms of your horse's care and work....straw/shavings/feed/hay/medication as well as how many hours a day they would want to work him, in what sort of lessons.
You should also discuss what will happen regards farriery, vet, holidays...and what happens if your horse goes lame.
Then you can make your mind up...
If you do decide to send your horse to college, then it may be worth checking up on him and liaising with the YM to find out how the loan is working out...and visiting occasionally.
If you are not happy with the college, or he proves unsuitable (and not all horses thrive in a busy college environment) then you can terminate the loan.
IME the students are very caring and loving to the horses.
Good luck whatever your decision.

Yes, the college covers him for third party. We still have vets fees cover with our insurers, I just had to notify them he was at the college. I am still waiting for a pm putting me in picture about others views on the manager as yes I am concerned.
My daughter is also able to ride him any weekend, again she doesn't cos a) we like him to have a rest, and b) she isn't often home. Proves she only came home last year to ride the horse not to see her Mum

. They have also said if she does want him for any special reason during the week to give them notice and it would be okay.

thanks again to all that responded, ive had the contract from bicton college.... my horse will not be going there, if any one would like to see the contract feel free to pm me.

If you are looking to put your horse on loan...(and don't like the contract)...it might be worth advertising him at the college...as students have so many horsey contacts that you might find a lovely private loan home.
Just a thought.
