There is a girl 10 miles away from me who has advertised to loan a horse for 6 months whilst her horse recovers from an injury.
she is wanting to do jumping, which my horse loves and i am not very good at, so i thought it would be a good chance for him to have some fun over the winter.
also my 4 year old daughter is just off the lead rein confused, and i want to spend time with her improving so we can join the pony club next year.
that will mean my horse will only get a couple of hacks a week with me over the winter.

i know that it will do him the word of good to go jumping, but i have put a lot of work into getting him schooled and sane. i am worried he would come back to me next year ruined.

what would you do?

Wel if she is only 10 miles away, keep him at your yard while she loans him, so you can makes sure he is ok.

Or make regular visits to her yard, as its only local.

You could put him on loan with specific do's and don'ts in the loan contract, as he would be so local it would be easy to check on him reguarly.

Just give her call and have a chat with her and say you are happy for her to jump him etc but explain how hard you have worked with him to get him 'sane'!
Maybe do a trial for a fortnight?
