Loaning Advice

Hi,

I loaned my mare about as a broodmare about a month ago, she is now in foal and everything that side is going well.

However, i am finding the loaner hard and hard to contact, if i ring her she says she will ring back and never does if i text her it either gets ignored or i don't get a reply for days. due to unforeseen circumstances she has had to move yards, but has yet to tell me where she is. i am getting increasingly worried and am seriously considering retrieving my mare foal and all. (if i can find out where she is!)

do you think as the owner i am being over the top with wanting to know what is going on with my mare including what the vet has said at each visit?

what would you do in my situation?

this is a no - brainer. Get that mare back as soon as possible, i.e. tomorrow, or you may not see her again. sm x

Personally I would go to the yard and find out why she had to leave.
Go to her home address and go to the new yard with her to see the horses.
Dont want to worry you but my niece lost her mare and never did find her after loaner moved it and moved house. Mind she was working away for 6 months so loaner had plenty of time.

How far away is she? I would turn up on her doorstep and probably take the mare back. If she can't be bothered to contact you after a month, I think it'll only get worse.

Go and find her pronto.

Don't give warning, just go and find her before it's too late.

If it's genuine still, then she should have no problem you coming to see your mare out of worry.

thanks guys, glad i don't sound unreasonable for wanting to know what is going on with my mare, i will go over to her house tomorrow, should i let her know i am coming or pop over unannounced? (it will end up being about 8pm)

the loan contract states i should receive written notice of where and why she is moving my horse, which i never received and i didn't find out until a couple of days later when i rung her and she said that she had moved her. every time i ask her out right where she is going to move her too (current location is temp) she avoids the question.

if i can't get straight answer from her tomorrow i will bring the mare home, though i will feel really bad as she has just paid to have her put in foal.

Dont tell her your coming over go straight over, only issue you may have like you said she paid stud fees etc maybe for that bit ring bhs and ask for advice?

No point telling her... She ignores you anyway, and then she may make sure she's out or not answer the door to avoid you.
