Loaning an ex competition horse

I am considering loaning an ex-competition horse to regain some of my confidence in my abilities on, to hack, have lessons, do low (very low) level RC stuff with,and hunt.

There must be loads of ex-comp horses looking for a less busy lifestyle - but how do I go about finding one? Ive looked on horsemart, but there doesn't seem to be much about. Is it just word of mouth? Has anyone got one, and how did you go about finding it - is it worth placing a wanted ad, and if so, is H&H the best place?

I'm on the look out for the same and most horses are either knackered, mental or babies.

I would say that word of mouth is your best bet..........what kind of competition would you like said horse to have come from??

Put a wanted ad in horse and hound - I know of afew people who have got hold of ex eventers that way.

How did it go viewing that nice cob of Francis' at the weekend? Bodger? Just being nosey because I went to see one of theirs a few years back - lovely quality animal but mouth like iron and spooky (not the chap you were looking at).
