Bascially I have an ex-eventer who has had to retire from competition due to bone spavins. Last year she had a stunning filly and my plan was to put her in foal again this year but I don't currently have the finances to do this at the present time. She is really bored in the field at always looks so sad when I take my two competition horses out and about so I think she would like a job to do.
Although she cannot take strenuous work anymore she is a brilliant hack - 100% bombproof and will happily plod through the countryside all day long! I would like to loan her out as want to keep her to breed from again in the future but am very wary of letting her go off my yard for one very big reason. A few years ago I sold my 17yr old who had evented up to advanced to a dressage home as he had had enough of eventing and was not enjoying the xc. I have since found out that he is now eventing again at the grand old age of 22 and he keeps getting E xc, and I feel awful that he is not enjoying his older years and having an easy life. I don't want to let Ellie go off my yard, someone look up her BE record and think it would be a good idea to try and compete her again!!
So I was thinking of offering her for loan - but to stay with me - and ask for money for her shoeing and a contribution towards her feed costs.
Would people be interested in a set up like this or am I wasting my time?
