I have just been to see an unbacked 4 yr welsh cross i think as its nearly 16hh and i didnt think welshies grew that big but looks full welsh! Anyway its up for full loan and a friend of mine knows the owner and she has said I can have it on full permanent loan now I wanted to ask if i did this could she take it back as i dont want to put all the work in for her to then turn round and say she wants it back! Is there some sort of agreement for this? The horsey is lovely! Has anyone else been in this situation or can any one advise me what to do?

Thanks lizx

There is an agreement on the BHS website that covers loaning - you can tailor it to your personal circumstance but it is usually done by the owner and, as such, unless you were really insistent on a certain clause (i.e 6 month's notice or something to suit you), it is unlikely you would be able to prevent her taking it back.

The trouble is with a loan that the horse will always remain the owner's property and as such, she could always take it back

Could you do a loan with view to buy?
