loaning horses

any advice / opinions on putting your horse out on loan and getting a horse on loan gratefully received!

I have just put my horse out on loan and fingers crossed it all seems ok. We had a contract drawn up and checked by a solicitor.

I have had numerous horses on loan, both short and long term. Don't really know how to answer your question but ask away.

Was really wondering what people's experiences are eg have you found that you sepnd lots of time, energy and money improving a horse which the owner then asks for back? does all the hard work you have put into your own horse which goes on loan lost?
My little horse (whom I love dearly) is just not enough for me anymore and I am thinking of doing a 'loan-swap' with something which is too much for his current owner but am feeling quite anxious about it all!
