Loaning not always bad

I know loaning does not always go smoothly. I know as some of you guys will if you read the post on cost of loan vs cost of ownership (sorry don't know how to do the link).
Well i got rid in the end and i had someone come to look at my boy on Monday, she fell in love with him. She arrived at 6pm with her OH and went home at 9pm i can't believe the time we just spent gassing she is a lovely lady easy to talk too and i feel very easy around her no uncomforness like i did with last loaner, and wiat for it!!!!!!!!!! the OH loves DIY and has said he would love to come up and do any jobs which need doing, she came out again yesterday to ride him and still loves him, so she is going to have him on loan. All i have to say is if you are thinking about loaning there are some very nice people out there and don't be put of if the first one does not work out.
 
I'm a very nice, genuine person looking for a loan horse....there are some out there!!

Yes as a loaner I cannot stress the importance of keeping the owner informed. The 1st time our horse was out on loan I just didn't get any feedback I would ring to see how he was getting on and be told he was fine (which in all fairness he was ) and having driven 30 miles to see him one evening the loanee couldn't /wouldn't be bothered to ride him for us and said that she had ironing to do !!!! Hence we had him back at a later date when he went to a friend of ours for hunting We had so much feedback it made us feel involved with him Sadly the friend had a fall at a fence (not the horses fault ) and has had to have his spleen removed, So now we are left not knowing what to do sell or try to loan again. But if we did decide to loan again I would have it written in about updates as we only found he had qualified for something after we had removed him from the 1st loanee.
 
I have been on both sides of the fence, as a loaner i kept the owner informed of how things were going and she had no worries with me having her girl, however i recently loaned out my mare for 2 years and had to go collect her after 3 mths after i heard nothing, they lied when i asked them stuff and i got her back looking like a hat rack so i don't think i will ever be able to loan her again as loaning is based a lot on trust and i dont think i could happily trust someone to look after her away from me again, shame but 1 bad loaner can ruin things for a lot of people.
 
well there is hope for us all then...one of the horses here is on loan to one of my friends...and the owner is quite quite happy with her and she is coming on a treat..


however if someone in the sw wants a loan of somethbing they can compete at riding club level...then i have the horse...unfortunatly he does have to stay here with us...
