My daughter is off to uni in a few weeks and the plan was to sell her horse. However he has been unsound this summer and the diagnosis is a spur on the coffin joint on his off fore. He has responded well to treatment (steroid injection into the joint) and has started hacking out. The problem is that the vets cannot be sure how long the injection will last and how long he will stay sound before he needs another injection. They also cannot tell whether he will be able to jump or undertake hard work.
My question is- do you think that there would be someone out there who would be prepared to take him on loan with all these unanswerable questions and just do hacking and dressage with him? He is a super horse and has done intro eventing and all pc stuff at intermediate level. He is great to do and has a lovely temperament.
Any thoughts?

Im sure somebody will take your horse on loan providing the treatment is not too costly. Lots of people are looking for horses to hack with the occasional dressage test etc. Infact I have a horse who is perm unsound. light hacking and the occasional unafil dressage test is all she does.

I would definately take on a horse needing joint injections, my mare has them every 6 months which enables us to continue hacking. not everyone wants to compete some just want to enjoy the horse and the countryside!
