Ok, so I've put some ads up in local tack shops today looking for someone to loan my horse but am noww thinking about ads on websites etc. For a loan where I'd prefer him to stay reasonably local, would I be better with Horsemart or H&H?

Please don't suggest Horsequest, don't rate that site at all!

I would say Horsemart - I bought my horsey off an advert on there. They have quite a big wanted section and I'm always browsing on there. That said if the local ads only went in today I'd give it some more time - word of mouth is usually good too. Good luck in finding a new home for your boy.

Thanks. The Horsemart ad should go live tonight, it was only £18 compared to a fortune for H&H!

It's all happened quite quickly, I have something I want to start sharing/loaning but I really need to sort something for him quickly. V exciting but am quite worried at the same time!

Have you tried your local vets (not just the one you use) also a word to the blacksmith sometimes strikes gold (did for Dolly and me!) Local riding/pony club (Rhyn would be a cracking pony clubber!) Might be worth a word at the local hunt supporters club/riding centres/show secretary's tent too. Good luck, it sometimes takes a while for ads to filter through the brains so that people actually realise what it is they are looking for or a friend sees it for them!

It's been circulated around the hunt supporters club mailing list as I'm a member anyway, so emailed to the secretary. Should be on the Garth South PC site now, will be putting it on other local ones if I can. Horsemart ad has just gone live as well so fingers crossed!

Looked at wanted ads on Horsequest but either I bought a completely unsaleable/loanable pony or everyone on there wants something that doesn't exist - there's no such thing as a horse that's totallly unflappable in every situation, that every family member can get on, that can BE/BSJA/BD, be ridden by a 3 year old, teach grandad to ride, hunt, hack etc etc.....
