Loaning - Sorry, more questions!

Hullo! Sorry to harp on about this subject, but it is starting to stress me out slightly now!!
As some will know, i am off to uni this september and cannot take my mare with me, equally - i will not (or is it cannot?

) sell her. so she will be going on loan whilst i am away. i know it is only february, but i will panic about it if i dont set plans soon. so - a few questions if thats ok?

> What time of year is it best to advertise a horse for Loan?
> How long, on average, does it usually take to find a home (i know, like 'how long is a piece of string?').
> Anyone have any tips for me? any advice to stop me panicking?

I advertised late spring as people start to think of an easier life with horse then! Shadow found someone byt July but didnt take him on till late sept. As for my b/f horse we put add up december and found someone for him in 3 days!

Contract must be tight. Find somewhere to keep him where you know other people so they can keep their eyes open. Be careful where you let the new loanee take him/what yards they move him to - ie make sure there are other liveries!
I have had success stories and disaster stories so just be careful and ask for regular updates and you will be fine!

You firstly have to decide how far you want the horse to be moved to, if moved at all, type of rider ie novice, advanced, and get a loan contract drawn up stating all you want I loaned one of my mares out and it was the worse thing i could of done. As for when to advertise there is no best time some can go quick and some could take monyhs and you have to be 100% happy with whoever takes your horse on to loan

Thankyou very much guys, i know a few people who may be interested in her - as i would very much prefer to find someone via word of mouth. contract would be drawn up with, and signed in the presence of a professional and she would not be moving far from where she is. I just need to chill about the whole thing i think! am getting far too worried about it!

Wow! Missed your post before, but she is gorgeous. She's built exactly the same as a mare I used to own. I regret selling her everyday. Like yours she was an absolute demon, would jump 5' with ease, hunt all day long etc etc and most importantly had that extra 5th leg you were talking about.
If I wasn't overrun with horses already I'd have her off you like a shot.

Aw, thankyou! i certainly could never sell her, she is as honest as the day is long! i know i will find someone - but i know i will worry until i do!!
BTW - i like the sound of your mare!
