would people be prepared to loan out a horse just for a year? Im not looking at the moment, maybe in a year or so, but would only be able to take something on for a year.

Would be fairly open to type, younger horse or something looking to step down a level and do rc, very maybe small bsja/be? horse not pony as im quite tall.

do they exist?
 
Yes, sure they do - and its great that you are honest enough to be upfront right from the beginning and say how long you are looking for. But also point out what you can offer the horse - ie what experience have you got, do you have enough money to look after a horse, can you offer 5* home, etc, etc.
 
Definitely. I loaned my mare out for 1year to a riding school not too far from where I live, I did this when I relocated and found work as I simply did not have the money to keep her, but did not want to sell. Had also loaned her for two years previous where I did my degree for time and money reasons.
So with that as just one reason, there are so many reasons and people out there who would want a loan for a year to help them out.

Yes, definitely! I am working abroad at the moment and if the right person came along would loan my boy out short term. He's not RC material though- just a happy hacker.
