I’ve found a local show I’d like to go to (hopefully going to watch a County show in a few weeks) but have a few questions on local level (The schedule is incredibly unhelpful and lays Out no rules etc!)

For ridden cob:
I have 3 saddle options a) black gp saddle, I ride in it everyday
b) straight cut saddle, very old but with long billet straps like a dressage saddle (I know it was used in the past for showing)
c) brown saddle slightly more forward cut saddle, again very old and previously used for showing

- does there tend to be a ride judge at local unaff shows? (Not that he’d mind he’s used to different riders but if there is likely to be I’d like to stick my instructors daughter on him first)

other than that I’m going for plain bridle, and tweed for me, I don’t have a velvet hat but do have a plain black hat

for in hand coloured NN:
Do they have to be shown with a bit (16yo mare) ?

would jeans with f&f boots with a jacket and hat be acceptable?

For local the judge very rarely rides so I would go with the GP saddle. Plain bridle, tweed jacket, shirt & tie. Your hay will be fine.

What Coloured inhand classes are there as NN is normally Non-Nayive which is plaited ones. Cobs usually go in the natives/hairy class. Or is this a different horse your taking for this?

I personally hate jeans being worn in the show ring but there is a trend these days for garishly coloured skinny jeans. So so long as they are smart enough you will be fine. Boots and jacket fine. Hat - your choice whether you wear a hard hat or a trilby/fedora or the likes but a hat is required for etiquette.

And no mares do not need to be bited to be shown inhand.

Thank you! It’s 2 different horses!

Eventually I’d like to show the mare as a small hack as she’s very pretty and eye catching but currently we’re having a few ridden issues so that’s out of the question for this show

They don’t need to be bitted but if it’s non native it would need to be plaited and (I may be wrong) but I’ve never known it to be correct to show a plaited in anything other than a bridle unless it’s a foal.

I wouldn't advise wearing jeans, I'm afraid that they can't be called smart by any stretch. It really depends on the colour of your horse's legs, what colour trousers you wear, they need to contrast, so dark trousers against white legs and vice versa.

The best thing about local showing is that the day is intended to be enjoyable, so they are usually fairly informal. Enjoy your day!

i was hoping to go for something like below she’s got a very delicate head so I’m hoping it will show it off nicely

I’ll have to have a think as her legs are black and white! 99E392F9-3753-4C5B-A214-015F4ADF9F18.jpeg

Unfortunately that would not be correct on anything except an arab or a mini.
As she is of ridden age and show hacks type then the most correct would be to show her in a ridden bridle with coloured browband.

If you can’t do that then an inhand bridle with ribbon browband
