Anyone have any ideas of a cheap lockable storage option for feeds? We have feed thief on the yard, (it is known who it is and it has been spoken about by YO to the 'thief'), however our confidence it wont happen again is not particularly high, so i was just wondering if you wonderful HHO'ers had any good ideas?

We have been considering getting a chest freezer and getting a lock put on that, but dont currently have transport big enough to get one to the yard... so any other ideas?

Would like to spend the smallest amount of money possible really!

Im looking into it myself currently, Argos have a plastic trunk garden storage thing for £30, not very high, so im getting 2 lol. Hope this helps!

I use one of those plastic small shed things from b n q. I store my feed and my tools in it-expensive but worth it!

Plastic bins with the handles that clip on to the lid. Thread a chain or padlock through. Think they're about £5 from Wilkinsons or somewhere similar.

Perfect!! Thanks so much - have just found the bins at wilkos for £13 and have padlocks galore at home!

The cheapest option for now would be buying a bike lock or more and drilling a few holes in your current bin...

ie - if you have two bins then drill a hole in the lids on opposite sides and in the top of the bases, then attach padlocks to one side of each bin, then using a coil lock, loop through the remaining lids and bases to prevent the bins being opened. This way you would only have to open one lock to access both bins.

(link to a pack of three coil locks if you have even more bins! - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Master-1800...sr_1_1?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1331558738&sr=1-1

can you send me a link to this pls? i can't find it and have been looking for one for months but they don't seem to be 'in season' yet

If it helps, our current chest freezer went in the back of my car. It's a smaller square one rather than the big long one. You could also ask the seller if they deliver.

Our local store will drop you off an old chest freezer as it means they don't have the hassle of getting rid of it. Just ring a local independant store and ask I am sure you will get one for nothing. We just offered him £10 for his diesel/time and he was very happy to drop off the next chest freezer he was asked to dispose of.

might be being very stupid here but like the idea of using a freezer and was wondering what you mean by your local store.... i've got a bit lost somewhere i think!
