LOCKABLE SADDLE RACKS?!

TBH, they're meant to be a deterrent rather than a theft proof method - if someone is determined to have your saddle then they will - regardless of whether there's a lock over it. Much better to have them locked away in a tack room with a very secure door & barred windows if poss.

I just wrap a chainround the saddle and rack and padlock it. This won't stop a determine theif, but hopefully will stop an opertunist or encourage them to take one they can pick straight off the rack.

I use steel centred lockable bicycle chains from Halfords- they cost roughly £5-£10 each I think- I don't believe for one minute it would stop them being stolen but it would slow a would be thief down I think. - I wrap them round the saddle and through the stirrup leather keeper on the saddle and then through the saddle rack. I also use anti- theft screws on the saddle rack itself too.
