Hi everyone,

I got a Games Maker offer today and my excitement is so great it's almost obscene! So I thought I would make a thread for anyone and everyone who has been given a role (any role - not just Equestrian!).

So.... what roles has everybody got?

Congratulations!!! I can imagine your excitement! My mum has a role, and my partner was offered (and accepted) a role the same day as you - it's all rather exciting! I have yet to hear either way...

Just been offered role - event services - at Greenwich for the paralympics . Got to find accommodation now - I'm way up North in Lancs !

Don't worry too much about the interview, it's very informal and everyone is friendly! There weren't too many questions that were specific to the role you are applying for. Try and come up with some stuff to say about why you want to do it etc. - they like to see that you are really enthusiastic about the Games in general as well as the section you are applying for.

Good luck!

Not quite sure what my role is - equestrian official TM, assume thats team member but am making lots of tea in case its tea maker!!
Going for an orientation day at Wembley in Feb, anyone else going?

Is that the Saturday? See you there!

I'll wear a pink carnation ;)

kintinger - they asked me questions about previous vounteering, achievements i was proud of etc. and why I wanted to do it. A bit of reading up on the Olympics/Paralympics may be a good idea as a conversation (selling!) point. They are very friendly, but have to get through their questions within a limited time.

Hiya - Well done, its so exciting. I am going to be an Event Services Team Leader at Greenwich Park for the Para Games which will be brilliant. No idea what the actual role is mind you! To the person going to Wembley in Feb yes I am there 4th Feb @ 1330. I live in deepest Devon but luckily have friends 'up country' who I will crash with during the Games. Have been really lucky got this & tickets for XC day plus the dressage Kur! :) Can't wait for the summer!

Yay!

I have orientation training on Feb 18th in the morning, and recently booked role specific training for the 21st of Feb :)

My brother lives in London (unfortunately not that close to Greenwich Park) so I am gatecrashing his flat for training and for the games.

Has anyone had offers for both the olympics and paralympics?

Welshone, Xander, Sianage **WAVES** I'll see you all at Wembley! I'll be the one with a hangover (sneakily crashing at a friends the night before and it will involve wine) wishing i was in my wellies.

Looking forward to meeting up with you all at Wembly on the 18th! Will be crashing at my cousins in Walton on Thames so still a bit of a trek to Wembley, will be staying there for the Games too so think I will be spending a lot of time on the trains!!
Dashing off to Addington for regionals after orientation day so won't be able to stay and chat but will see you all at role specific training!
I also have tickets for the kur, am so excited, Carl for the gold!!

I have recently heard I have a role as a 'Crossing Point Steward' :D but I haven't got any dates for training or orientation yet:rolleyes:

Is anyone else on here doing the same job? I'm not sure whether I'll be needed just for Cross-Country day or other days as well! It would be good to know what shifts/days I'm needed - so I could find accommodation etc... but I suppose I'll just have to be patient!

I have been offered the role of transport team member at Greenwich for both Olympics and Paralympics. Got to find somewhere to stay which is proving a nightmare. Hopefully will find somewhere as think it will be brilliant experience

I've got Event Services in the Olympic Stadium, despite applying for Equestrian and the interviewer saying she would recommend me for that. However, I'm more than happy with this role - think the atmosphere in the stadium will be amazing.
At the interview they have a specefic set of questions which they have to get though in a limited amount of time. Be ready for questions like " what have you done for someone that has changed their life for the better?" Oh, btw, they take your photo and this is the one they'll use on your accreditation pass for the games, but they don't tell you this at the time. Lol - I'd tripped over a couple of days before and smashed my face up on the edge of an open metal trunk, so am going to look god awful on mine!
I did orientation training at Wembley on the first day when they did all the publicity pics with Eddie Izzard, Seb Coe and all, so that was great fun and everyone was very excited.
Did role specific training at Hackney - quite a packed day, with lots to learn,
practising with ticket scanners, 2 way radios etc. Lol again, when you check in your picture comes up on their screen and they immediately commented on my smashed up face!
Have just booked the date to go and collect my uniform etc from West Ham, am hoping they might take a new picture.....
Just waiting for dates for Venue training and practise events now!

Hey Olympians!
I've got my shifts through this week so wanted to reignite this!
This isn't a whinge, honest, but I've been allocated 12 shifts rather than the 10 I thought I was getting... I'm doing this on annual or unpaid leave so finding extra days is going to be a struggle.
Has anyone else had their shifts yet?

I got my shifts through a couple of days ago :) and I've just got two days to do as a crossing point steward - which suits me just fine :D although one shift is 11hrs long
At least it means I'll just be able to get the train down each day and not worry about finding accommodation ;)

Who has had a look at the uniform we have to wear  ... decidedly dodgy IMHO!

I'm so looking forward to it!

Got my Paralympic shifts through last week, but no sign of my Olympic shifts yet. I got 6 consecutive days of 0630-1830 as a first responder!! Gonna be tired!

Haha I know what you mean about the uniform! Gonna look lovely :P

Deffo excited for it tho

I did get offered a place, but had to turn it down.

I work for one of the sponsors and found out I was going to be "on call" as part of the Crisis Team for the Olympics/Paralympics so wasn't able to take part - will be holed up in a dark basement waiting for something to go wrong!!!! However, I do have tickets for XC day, so hope there are no crisises on that day!

A friend of mine is a crossing steward on XC day.
