London LEZ Transport for London driving me mad long rant

Has anyone else who has not been in the LEZ had a warning letter about the 7.5 tonne restrictions coming in stating that their lorry has recently been driven in the LEZ. I had such a letter Feb 08 which I was about to bin as thought it was just information which they had already sent through but OH read it and said, they are saying the lorry has been driven in the LEz. I queried it with TFL as lorry has not been in the LEZ since I have owned it (18 months). They passed me back to DVLA. DVLA v helpful but said info from TFL. TFL have ignored my last two letters so cannot get to the bottom of whether they have mistakenly recorded another reg number for mine or whether this is bit of mass mailing and they are effectively writing such letters to all under 7.5 tonne owners. Have had another letter today saying lorry recently driving in LEZ which it has not been. If anyone has had a letter from TFL today could you please read it carefully and see what it says.

I had one about two months ago, i phoned them and told them I have never been any where near London ( live in leics) they said it was a standard letter and was sent by mistake and to ignore it, which i did.
Have not heard from them since.
They will have no evidence of you being there, so I would send them a stinking email or letter threatening legal action if they don't stop pestering you!!

Yep - I had one today as well. Guess they think we are high level competition people likely to travel the length and breadth of the country. I live in Lincoln - never likely to get to London!

Interesting - thought all along it was a lazy mass mailing being paid for by the tax payer or London resident!

Well they let you off first time anyway, so you can go in once without being charged.
Obviously if you haven't been in then it's frustrating, but at least they'll only try and charge you if they "think" they see you in again.

Well our lorry is in the LEZ the whole time and we haven't had a letter. Have taken photos of it tonight and am about to advertise it for sale

The yard is in the zone by 1/4 mile and is very defintely in surrey not london, I would understand if the zone was just london but why the entire inside of the m25?
