I would love to have a go at long arena dressage but don't have one to practise in! I looked on the British Dressage site and there is a trainer near me who has one.
Qs are - do trainers give lessons on their own premises or do they always go to you
I am only just starting to move out of prelim level - should I wait until I am better at novice before asking if they will teach me
do they teach lowly people like me
what sort of price is a lesson?

Most trainers in my experience prefer to teach at their own premises - easier and more cost effective.
Definitely go for lessons - don't do yourself down you are just as deserving of lessons as anyone else and I'm sure they will help loads.
Price-wise depends very much on the instructor but I would generally expect to pay between £30 and £45.

Her name is Lynn Perry - is there a kind of trainer hierachy? I can't shake off the feeling it might be like the parent of a 9 year old wanting them to go to upper school

I've only done prelim level at affiliated competitions and have really only just started at Novice level at local unaffiliated ones (esp. as all the affiliated ones near me are long arena!)

i never practised in a long arena before competing in one - i just fit the test into the little arena - after all, if you can ride it in the small arena then it's easy when you get to the big arena!

LOL! I can try it - I really want to make sure I know where all the markers are. Someone has PMd me the number of a place that lets theres out near me so hopefully I can do that.

just learn the shapes - you dont need to know the new letters - i have no idea where they are apart from halfway between the old letters - learn the patterns - i've never gone wrong in a long arena test having practised it in the short arena - it's easy

Lynn, is very good and will teach all levels. well worth phoning her up and booking a lesson, she will get you moving in the right direction from the start. Are you in suffolk?
