Hi,

I usually ride in chaps/jodhpur boots, but am about to start my first showing season and wanted to get some long boots.

I'm tempted to buy rubber boots, just for the sheer fact that they are cheap, but I'm not too sure how these will look!

Can anyone recommend any long boots that are a reasonable price?

Thanks :)

I seem to be the only one who thinks so, but don't get Mountain Horse! Didn't like my pair at all - found them very clumpy and uncomfy to ride in, they were fine for walking/ground work, hated riding in them though! Will watch this thread with interest though because I too am looking for a nice pair :D xx

Brogini... I love mine :D

Eugh, rubber boots, I haven't had a pair since I was about eight and I hated them then! Nightmare to get off in summer (and I've got super skinny legs!!)

equitector

very good service from the guy that runs it. very smart, comfy boots, and the toe cap is well hidden so they don't look like steel toecapped boots! toe cap is useful when dealing with excited ponies! :D

Thanks guys.. have given me a few to consider :)

I don't really want to go down the rubber boot road, because I don't really like how they look - and as you say are not a great choice for summer, but couldn't find any nice mid-price boots!!! My local tack shop only does cheap rubber, or £200 jobbies!

I used to have a pair of these:

Think they were about £60, in fact I've still got them I used them for everything (riding, mucking out, working on a yard) for over a year and they are still in good nick. They took a couple of rides to break in but once that was done they're pretty comfy. I also scrubbed them up to compete!

Well, I treated myself to a pair of ariats 2 years ago, and they are still going strong with minimal love!!! They are the most comfortable riding boots i've ever had, even though they were expensive. I had tried on about 20 pairs but when I put them on, i said, i'll have these ones don't care how much they cost me. It's like riding in your bedsocks, with all the added extras. It took about 3 weeks for them to drop behind the knees, was worried for a second that they were too long, but were just fab. If you have the money, get them, you will never buy anything else, believe me!!!!

They are sooo long lasting - honestly OP they are really worth it.

I had mine 3 years and didn't look after them at all (stupid cow) and they broke this year (RIP Ariats)

This next pair I WILL look after and I fully expect them to last in excess of 5 years. They are fab boots :D

Had a big problem finding leather boots to fit my erm, useful, calf muscles, but I love my Toggi Calgary boots, they zip up the back, good for riding, fetching my horse in from the muddy field and even walking to work when it snowed! Only £80 new too, brilliant!
