Does anyone have any suggestions for long riding boots? Historically I've worn short boots and chaps but was wondering whether there's anything else out there? I'm not particularly large (small size 12) but I do apparently (and unfortunately) have abnormally large calf's. I've had brogini modena as I was told they were quite forgiving but even they were tight 😟

Wish I could help. I had some cheapo wide fit long boots from Robinsons, but not sure if they still do them, and currently using jod boots and half-chaps for my short fat tree trunks, :o so will watch this space...

It's soo depressing lol. I really want something dainty and flattering as opposed to some of the boots I have seen. They're just awful.

Even at my smallest they were same size x

I have always had the same problem, no matter how much weight I lose my calves and upper arms are large. I could find no boots to fit not even xxl were comfortable. I don't think these companies really look in to it. If the xxl do not fit you then the only way forward is fulla fillies. I have the original ones and have been pleased with them although I have heard they have since made improvments. They have several sizes and I am not even the largest fitting. The best thing is they are smart on. I paid £110 for mine some time ago , but I was just so happy to find boots that fit me. I have looked after them and they are going well 3 years on.

Mountain horse high rider wide width, although even their standard is generous so u may get away with them. They are smart and robust and widely available, I have a black pair for hunting and brown everyday use.

I am a larger lady with a larger calf and mountain horse high rider (or any other MH model) comes in a wide leg fitting. If they for me then by jeepers they'll fit you! Very hard wearing but not exactly the Joshua Jones of the boot world! My first pair gave me several (5+) years of loyal service and we worn probably four times a week on average!

I am a size 12 too but big calves. My issue isn't just the overall width of calf, but that they widen very quickly so I can't do the bottom bit of the zip up. I tried Mountain Horse without any luck and the only thing I have managed to get to fit is the Toggi Calgary. It's not a smart show boot but looks nice for everyday.

I've a fat damaged ankle and 17" calves and although I'm 5'9 I have struggled to find something comfy. I've got a pair of Tuffa long boots 'Norfolk' I think, which have side zips and stretchy panels, a little wide at the top for me but they are very comfy now.

I'v had this problem for years :( always wore short boots and chaps and evenutally started tucking away a bit of money each month and thought I'll get a nice long pair made for me. By chance I went shopping and saw these boots (Mounrtain Horse Richmond High Rider) and thought I'd try them on and nearly fainted when I zipped up to the top!! Little bit pricey but so comfy and the "wide" fitting fts my large calves. http://www.ingatestonesaddlery.co.u...mountain-horse-richmond-high-rider-16786.html

Another vote for Fuller Fillies! I am also a small size 12 with wide calves, and also a short calf as well, despite being 5'10, as their 'normal' leg length was too long! They've dropped and now give me blisters...
However, the customer service is fabulous if you buy direct from them.
I've had 2 pairs. The first pair lasted 3 years (I did have them resoled) of everyday use, leading lessons at the local riding school, riding 3 a day and yard work.
I still have the second pair, which were supposed to be kept for smart occasion, but I fell off a motor bike and ripped the side of them up. Although in fairness, we were skidding along the road at 60+ mph, on my side, that was the leg closest to the ground, and there was no injury to that leg bar a fat ankle and knee. My joggers that I had on top of my jods were fine though! :D maybe boots should have been made out of cotton!
