Just wondering what people prefer to ride in.
I have never owned and long riding boots as never competed so never really had a use for them.

At the moment I ride in my muckers and would like to get some new boots. I am hoping to do some local shows with my new share horse over the winter and I don't know whether to get some long black riding boots that I can also use if I do compete or to go for some long casual ones for around the yard and day to say riding, then some jodhpur boots and gaiters for hopefully competing.

Why do you prefer to ride in? If you have pics that would be great :-)

Best to go to a tack shop and try long boots and boots and gaiters on.

My OH wanted to treat me to a nice pair of long leather boots, now im fairly average but we struggled ot find a long boot to fit just right and look good too. We got to about a £300 boot but it just didnt fit quite well enough on my calf so I tried Treadstep boots and Gaiters and they were perfect! Looked smart, fitted and was a damn sight cheaper than a long boot :P ( It also meant I could get the Pikeur show jacket I really liked too!! )

I find my short boots and chaps comfy, but much prefer my long boots. With long boots though, be prepared to break them in!!

i hated short boots and gaiters probably because they are more of a faff before riding that long boots and i cant keep my phone in the side of them as it just fell out of the bottom.. so long boots for me even if i have to try on 30 before i find ones that actually fit!!

I bought the toggi calgary boots earlier, im not convinced im going to keep them though. They are quite uncomfortable around my ankle but i dont know if this is due to them needed to be worn in, or maybe i should have got a bigger size!!

thats just how they are unfortunately i am on my second pair and the zip does dig in the back of my ankle but they dont bother me when i ride only when im walking around

i am a size 6 and i have them in a 6 but i also fit in their size 5 :) i have had both a 6 and a 5 in them they both did the same thing... i currently have the 6

I have short boots and leather gaitors for every day riding and could compete in them because they look nice enough when clean, but treated myself to a pair of brogini boots which were made to measure and are lovely and soft, no need to break them in & were £175 which is a brilliant price for a boot that you know is going to fit!
