I am looking at getting some long boots for the yard, must be waterproof and warm and able to ride in them - I want to try and keep my good riding boots clean/nice when the weather gets rubbish!

I am a Mountain Horse girl through and through, always had the paddock boots since they first came out in the 1990s and each pair has lasted years and years. I now need to replace the ones I got in 2008(!) and was thinking of getting some long boots and these are my thoughts so far:

- I have read the reports on the Dublin River Boots - have these been improved or should I just stay clear?
- The Toggi Canyons look nice, but have heard they rub? Are they comfy and waterproof?
- I know everyone loves Ariats, but I don't like the faffy lace bits on the side of the Grasmeres and worried the Windermeres will get baggy and slip down - any experience? I tried a pair of Grasmeres on and they were very comfy though and there seem to be some well-priced ones around.
- I do like the look of the Mountain Horse Forest Highlander, but they are expensive and I can't seem to find any reviews, anyone got any?!

If there are any others worth considering please let me know - am open to suggestions! Or should I just stick with my short boots and get another pair of MH paddock boots?! Thanks in advance.

Dublin River boots are cr*p although seen they've brought out an updated version. If you are a MH girl, I bought my daughter the Stella Polaris MH boots for Christmas and she loves them for yard work and riding and is still wearing them in this weather as they appear to keep cool as well as warm!

I live in my Dublin River Boots! Absolutely love them - if you treat them they last a good few years and thats with wearing them every day. And mine do get a hammering!

hkm madrid boots, live in mine and absolutely love them, cheaper as well, think about 60/70 quid and had mine a year and they are still going strong

I got some HKMs and they are so far very good and not ridiculously expensive (I got them as a present but had chosen them). Not sure what mine are called but they do have a fleecy lining so were fab in the winter cold!

I've got some Ariat Conistons which are so comfortable but a bit too warm in summer. I've had a pair of Dublin River boots for two years and am really pleased with them. I use them in mud and wet weather but do clean them often and whack loads of saddle soap on them. They've lasted really well and would happily buy another pair. That said I haven't ridden in them as they are pretty wide. I also keep boot trees in them to maintain their shape.

I have Toggi Canyons and love them. Very comfortable, don't collapse like some of that type do, waterproof and I wear them for mucking out, walking through snow and mud and riding. Best boots I have ever bought.

Thanks everyone! :)

I like the look of the Ariat Derwent, and not totally ruled out the Dublin or Toggi, just need to find some to try on now. Probably a bit silly to spend over £200 on yard boots for the odd ride when I have lovely riding boots, and as I can't seem to find any reviews, have decided to discount the MH Forest Highlanders :(
